After 187.5 hours, its finally finished. Freddy campaigned this car back in 1973. Its kind of a compilation of a few of his cars, from that time, because I did not have complete ref pics to go by. I chose this one because it seems to have had chrome rims, and chrome door numbers. I have to thank George ( leftturns75) and David Bogard for answering my many questions, and supplying me with many ref pics to go by. I have no knowledge what so ever about these kind of cars, so with out their help, I wouldn't have even tried to build it. My inspiration for this build is that I saw Freddy compete back in 1973 at Houston's Meyer Speedway, and he dominated the events the night I was there. I know he was in a 65 Chevelle, but I cant remember the color, or number of the car he drove that night. Maybe it was this one. I mean it was 45 years ago.

This car flat looks GREAT Mark!
Mark I think 'Ol Freddy would be proud! When you see this one, it is no doubt who it is and your graphics are pretty much spot on. You pretty much have to do these cars as "A Moment in Time" as they changed week to week. I saw Freddy at least 5 times in 1973 and he was in a different car each time. I saw him in Jackson Miss. in 73 with a Chevelle very much like this one but with a different number and in primer. It very well may have been this car. Another clean and neat job Mark, you always come up with something Super!
WOW...the color combination, chrome ...everything :)
Fantastic replica build Mark, very well done. You can be very proud of this one.
Thanks for sharing a little background history also.
Bob
:) I am very familiar with the car. You did an excellent job.
Wow, that's a lot of hours. Wow, that's a lot of car! Wow :) :) :) :) :)
Rett
Well done car there Mark. Lots of cool stuff going on there. Thank you for posting all the work in progress pics.

Thanks, ARCA guy and Mike.
For some reason I can't find my original post. Anyway, this is one awesome short tracker. Sweet colors and I really like that scratchbuilt quick change. I am a '65 Chevelle freak, whether short-track, drag, or street I love them all.
Very cool Chevelle, Mark!!
Your detailwork is amazing, especially on the chassis.
Very nice job 8) 8)

I agree. The mid 60's chevelles make cool race cars.

Thanks, Michael. I really appreciate the kind words.
On another site Freddy's son Clint gave me a nice message. "Mark , this is my dad's car and this is so awesome. Great job with this". This was an unexpected plus from doing this build. I thanked him and told him I hoped that I got it some what correct and showed him the main picture I used for the build

:) What a great picture.
Mark J. you nailed it bud! Seems like every time Freddy came to Nashville he was in a different color car and often a different number. Very nice work sir.
Thanks, 421sd. He was surely a cut above all the local drivers at Meyer speedway when he would visit back then. His equipment and driving ability stood out as something really special. I guess that's why I always wanted to build something he drove.
That is just too cool, Mark.
Love the color combo on this one.
And to get the attention of FF's son was a nice bonus.
Love it, Mark. I have been treated to a lot of really well done models here recently. Where did you get the Honest Charley decals??

Marty, I had to make all the decals for this build . They are inkjet from my computer.
