That is gonna make a pretty cool looking stocker. With a top chop like that, it's obvious the driver won't be a fat guy. Got any paint picked out yet?
Yes, PPP rims. I've been away from this for about 3 months, seems like 3 years! Got a long way to go on this one, but it's good to be back...I only work an hour or so as often as I can get to it. Haven't picked a paint yet, leaning toward blue and silver maybe...

Rett, looks like the beginning of an awesome one. Looking forward to more updates, and is this based on a real car, or just your thoughts on what would really be cool, to build?

Just coming out of my head. I guess sorta they way I would have wanted one to be if I'd have built it back then.

Rhett;
Out here they limited the amount of chop/rake to the top. It literally turned the top into a wing, making them way too fast for our little track, and made it had to get the driver out in case of a crash, and or fire.

Yeah, I've seen some of the radical ones. I do it just 'cause I think it looks cool. Something just a little different... I got the back end down just a tad more than this pic last night.

Interesting build coming along there Rett, keep us posted on your progress.
Bob
Very Interesting build/concept there....Rett......
I LOVE your FORDS Rett! You build them FAST sitting still man!
This should be a good one.
Any progress on this one Rett? The roof has grown on me and now I am anxious to see the your latest work on it!

Not much! Got some cage work done, seat, shifter, extinguisher, done but not installed. My son came down from Michigan and we went to Biketoberfest in Daytona a couple of days. Trying to get back to the bench now...I'll post something in the next couple of days...
Rett
Any color scheme yet?
Leaning toward blue. I'd like something different but it's pretty boxy to get too fancy....Maybe two tone it....Thanks for giving me a prod to get going on it. Haven't been feeling too well lately, no energy or ambition for much of anything. Got an appointment with a heart doctor in a couple of weeks.....we'll see what that brings. Ain't gettin' any younger!

Chassis looks awesome. Really coming together nicely.

Seat reminds of a custom seat from the orignal tool AMT '57 Chevy........

Half windshield 'cause I didn't have a good one and saw it done this way somewhere and the interior done. Body going in for paint. Slow going for me.....

I have no clue what kit that seat came from. I was in a rush for a seat and found that one, ergo, close enough. This car is sort of a "get me back into the building mood" I want to be in! lol
Rett
Wherever it came from, it is an interesting choice....love it!
Looking good Rett!!!!!
tks for the comments. Right now it's sitting on the shelf, not done. But it is painted.....blue. The thing is that I did a couple of things wrong and it ticked me off. So I set it on the side while I attempt a 40 couple, which also got me a little riled! LOL So now, I'm building a '40 sedan early modified. Maybe I'll finish this one!!!

Good looking ride you're building up. Can't believe the radical top chop. One of my club members talked about chopping tops on race cars here in Nebraska. The cars I saw racing back in SE Wisc did not have a top chop and that included modifieds, Anyhoo that is a good looking build and has my to thumbs up and i'm anxious to see the finished product!

I'm from Milwaukee (raced at Hales in the 60's & 70's)and never saw a chopped top one around there either. Must have been a southern thing....But I love the look
I do believe you're right about the top chops. While I've got your ear, when you raced in Wisconsin did you ever hear of a modified driver named Joe Jones? He raced at Capitol speedway in Oregon and he raced at several other tracks. I would like to try a build up of his car. It was a Model A 30/31 Ford coupe, paint was blue and white with gold numbers #21. I believe he ran big block Fords but not sure. I would love to see any photos of his car. Hopefully you or another member on here can help me with that. Thanks

Sorry about not responding! When I put this one away, I sort of didn't check the forum for comments. I remember the name Joe Jones. Don't think he ran Hales Corners. At least not very often. Also, I wasn't much of a modified fan, was more into the full bodied cars, sportsman and late models.

No fancy two tone paint on this one. I completely trashed one body(glue bomb). So had to haul out a new one. Anyway, this is it. Used the 56 chassis, scratched a cage, dash and most everything else. It's done, I'm happy, moving on now, lol. Hope someone likes it besides me.....
Great looking finished product Rett. Looks the part of the cars raced back in the day. Love it!
Al
:) Another good one, Rett. Nice.
Very nice build Rett, looks very correct for the time period.
Bob
One mean looking Ford!
Great Build!
This has to be one of my favorite models you have built. It looks all business!
Thanks for all the good complements guys. Actually, isn't one of my favorite builds. But, I know where all the flaws are! LOL.
Rett
Well, I am saving it in my reference folder anyway!
