Happens to me all the time! Anyway, used the stock chassis and scratched most everything else. Body is coming out of paint and lettering as we speak. Looking okay so far..
"Not your father's jalopy", that's for sure!! Cool looking modified Rett!!
:) Looking good, Rett.
Nice job, Rett! Can't wait to see it all done!
Great looking modified Rett can't wait to see the final product. Is the flathead from the Monogram 40 Ford pickup?

Nice build Rett, I can't wait to see this one finished.

No John, this is an older one. Green body on the box.
Rett
:) Thanks. Just curious. Saw the yellow one yesterday.

According to the review in Scale Auto, the latest re-issue of the AMT '39/'40 Ford Sedan kit, it all the usual '39 Ford parts are still part of the kit, as the build from this kit was done using the '39 parts......
Just a thought on my part....this kit and all previous issues, probably makes a better '40 Standard Sedan, along with the Deluxe edition of the car......
You quite literally can't make an accurate '39 out of this kit, using kit parts. There are just too many parts missing, or inaccurate ones. '39's look a lot like '40's, but the devil is in the details. To make a good '39, you need a '36 for wheels, and hubcaps, and the banjo steering wheel. Then you have to come up with a '39 dash ( good luck with that).

:) It's ok Ed. I am on the " buy no kits until Memphis in late June " plan. I was just curious. lol

I think I may have a couple of '39 dashes. I'd have to check. If anyone is interested I wouldn't need them.
Rett
I would buy the '39 dashes if you are interested in selling them. I imagine they are resin, since I don't know of any model manufacturer that produced a '39 Ford with the correct dash. Early Racing Classic '39 standard coupe has the correct dash, but it's the only one I'm aware of.
Olderndirt
Then mine may not be original. I'll have to dig one up, check Google, and compare. Maybe, I'll try to get that done in the next few days....
Rett
Have a couple of the Sedan kits, but wouldn't mind a few more if the price was right.....most are outside of my budget......
Actually, it would be pretty hard to fab one from a 40 dash. One is nearly flat and the other is flat and slightly different. As far as being "correct" I'm with you David. I like detail, but not quite that much. Having said that.......to each his own, build on.

Geesh, if the "correct" dash is that big of a deal, just fab one from a '40 dash. Call me a slacker but the next time I trash a build because the dash might be a year off will be the first time.
Now that you mention it, David, I might just trash my '32 Jalopy sedan build. I think maybe the Pony tire is a bit too small. Or maybe the right front slick is just a hair too big. I can't decide.:)
And, I look forward to the finished product, Rett.

As I said, mostly scratch built, '41 truck motor, tri-carbs, tires and wheels out of my stash. What cha see is what ya get. Really enjoyed building this one.(for a change, things went together pretty well. (For me)
WOW! That turned out super. Reminds me of the days when I saw these types of cars race at Jefferson speedway. I remember seeing one parked at a house back when I was just a pup this one had no fenders and I don't know what engine was in it but I saw nothing but sheer beauty. I've always thought I would like to trey to mimic one in scale. As for the correct 39 dash like OND said that ERC made one for his 39 coupe. My wife got me that kit and yes it is a correct 39 dash. Several years ago Bill Coulter did an article in either SAE or Model Cars of an after market company that did some parts for the Monogram 40 pickup truck. I will research and see what I can find and get back with you guys.

Great looking Modified, Rett! I like the colors, the graphics, and the fact that you used the sedan. Two thumbs up!!
