sentsat71 asked what I have done with the Grant King kit. Here's my version a mixture of the GK kit and the AMT indy roadster cut down to fit.

That sure looks good Frank. A lot of work went into this build to make it look like that. GREAT job..
Oh wow! Very nice!
Tom
Double Wow here! That is a terrific piece of modeling!
WOW!!
Great build!!
Remember seeing this one before.....great to see it again!!
Thanks for posting this one!!
This was the car I made for a community build project on Freds site, took second place.
Truly a beautiful model!
Al
:) Yes, it is. Very cleanly built. Wish I could do that, but mine are pretty sloppy.
Very nice and clean built model !
The frame looks very special !!
Real nice. Lots of detail on this one. Good job..

Here's a WIP using a similar chassis with a different body.

Lookin' good!!!
Another one using a heavily modified Watson Indy car frame?
Very NICE work!
Very nice clean build on the 44.
What hood and nose cone were used on the work in process build?
It looks similar to a sixties Trevis Craft hood.
Bob
That really looks good Frank. It also looks like a Dirt Champcar. Did you fabricate that body?
In response to the above questions. Yes it is a modified Watson Indy car frame. The body is a combination, the tail is a Grant King part the rest is a cut down old Monogram 1/18 scale midget with a lot of modification to the nose. They look like Champ cars because of the long nose that covers the front of the frame but the wheelbase is 3.5" so 87 " in 1 to 1 scale. I've started messing around with the power plant to try and reproduce the Watson sprint car that had the Ford Indy car engine in it. I saw AJ Foyt drive that car at Ascot Park in the late 60's very impressive.

That's a very cool car. It's looking like you've got it nailed Frank....
Very interesting project, I'll be keeping am eye on this one. Very nice fab work.
Bob
Great fab work. What engine is that and what kit did it come from?
Al
Liking that DOHC Ford.....
Great Fab work!!!
The engine is the DOHC Indy Ford, it came from the MPC Gurney Eagle kit. It looks to be a good fit the injectors just clear the hood and I think the exhaust headers should be fairly straight forward.
