Title: Phantom Ford Thunderbird #15
Post by: Volzfan59 on June 04, 2024, 10:41:16 PM
As you've probably gathered, I enjoy phantom builds over replicas. Not really sure why, just always have. This was a Monogram Bud Moore owned Motorcraft '85 T-bird driven by Ricky Rudd. The numbers and igloo associate sponsorship decals are AMT. The Slender You figure salon and the tape measure decals
are JNJ. Black paint is Testors, hot pink is Krylon.

Thanks for looking.

 :) It's great.

I have rarely ever done anything but fantasy, or what I call " cudda beens. "
More fun to me to make up my own colors and sponsors, usually small town businesses.

You know -  Joe's Hot Dogs.

That you John and I agree with you, I enjoy playing with colors, decals, etc. Sounds kind of silly to say, but look at model building much like an art form. I do enjoy the replicas that I have built, but I probably enjoy the phantom builds and kit bash builds more.

:) It IS an art form, and not silly at all.

And, I love those body T-Birds.

The fun thing about a fantasy build is the rivet-counters go nuts trying to find something wrong. Most of my builds are fantasy, but then the majority of my builds are short-track and not all out NASCAR. Enough of that, your T-Bird is an outstanding build. The choice of colors and layout of sponsors really compliment the build very well.

Excellent build Volz. Hard to believe it is a fantasy build. It really looks like it could have been on the track back then.

Thank you for the kind words MarkJ. If you've never seen one and have a second, do a search for the real Slender You cars. They ran GM products and were really good looking cars.
