Title: Car model storage question
Post by: jh63fan on June 19, 2024, 03:23:27 PM
Got way too many unbuilt kits in the little house I live in.  Been thinking of putting a bunch in the garage to make room. Thought about putting them in a cardboard box and wrapping it with cellophane. I live in North Carolina and have a nice dry garage. What do you do when storing kits.

I remove the decals. So can store them someplace with an always average temp.

I store all mine on shelves in my basement. Pretty consistent temp and humidity level. All are opened and decals are bagged (but not sealed) with the tissue paper that Mike sends with his decals to keep them from sticking to the bag as they wait to be built.

I've got a huge closet in our bedroom, that's where my unbuilt kits are stored. I've got around 75 kits with room for a few more. All kits are opened with the decals removed. The boxes are unsealed, plastic bags containing parts are opened.
