Title: #3 chassis paint
Post by: 18degrees on October 25, 2024, 01:22:58 AM
So.... I may be late to the party but tonight i went to O'Reilly Auto Parts and was walking the aisles looking for anti-seize. Came across their spray paint aisle and found Dupli-Color chevy engine red-orange, which is supposedly what the Earnhardt era #3 used for the chassis, interior, etc before it was eventually switched to the light grey. It's an "acrylic enamel with ceramic "and from what i read doing a bit of research on the interwebs it's safe for plastic. Wish i woulda found this before the current project i have going... settled for Krylon fire red :o

Picked a can up today and did the spoon test, 3 coats look really damn good. Red with a nice orange tinge... almost inspiring enough to do another Big E build just to use it.

Earnhardt RCR chassis color was Ford Poppy Red.
