Title: David Pearsons 1970 Ford Talladega
Post by: Michael F on November 18, 2024, 11:48:20 AM
Many years ago there was a giant diorama planned of the starting grid of the 1970 Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte,NC.
The "Wingcarbuilder" started the building thread at Randy Ayers Nascar forum.
Some of the former Randy Ayers forum members will remember.
I pulled the card for the #17 Ford Talladega of the "silver fox".
Unfortunately Doug, the wingcarbuilder, passed away and the diorama was never realized.
So the Ford remaines in my shelf and here are some pics of it.
I used the AMT body with the Polar Lights chassis.
It´s not perfect to the last detail, but i hope you like it.
Thanks for looking!

Looks Awesome, Michael. Too bad that diorama could not have come to fruition.

Looks pretty darn perfect to me. This is probably my favorite Pearson color scheme.
Just curious, why did you use the AMT body? I know the nose is upswept on the Polar Light's body, but that's a pretty easy fix.

Yeah, exactly the upswept nose of the Polar Lights body was the reason why i took
the AMT body. Back then i thought not to be able to fix the Polar Lights body :-\

I agree 100%! Any from the "car of tomorrow" period to this next gen crap is a no go for me.

My personal dividing line between old and modern time in NASCAR is 1975 when Bobby Allison drove the AMC Matatdor (i count it as old :D ).
