Did a Google search for a David Pearson car I am building and a picture of a white early 80's Regal with a blue number 2 and Simonize sponsorship came up. Don't remember that one. Does anyone know if he did.
:) Don't know that one either.
I thought it might have been a one race deal. He drove for a lot of different teams in the early 80's.
....Don't know if any of this will be helpful..
The only time that places David Pearson in the #2 car was mid-late in the 1979 season driving for Rod Osterlund...how ever a car matching your description was driven by Tom Sneva at Daytona in 1984

According to Wikipedia:
Drivers
Osterlund fielded cars for drivers from which Earnhardt won Osterlund his only Winston Cup Championship in 1980. Other notable drivers include Neil Bonnett in 1977, Dave Marcis in 1978, David Pearson subbing in for an injured Dale Earnhardt in 1979, Hut Stricklin in 1989, and Jimmy Spencer in 1990. As of 2009 he lives in California.
Simonize sponsored other cars thru out the early to mid 80's most notably Mark Martin (1982, car owner Bud Reeder) and Dave Marcis (1984,car owner RahMoc Ent.)
Could David have picked up another one or two race deal in the Osterlund car after Dale left for Bud Moore Racing in '81 but not the Daytona race in 1984 and then prior to his last season of racing in 1986...its plausible.
Thanks Brian, you cleared that up. Building a couple of Pearson cars and thought that might be a nice addition.
I was a Richard Petty fan back then, so Pearson was the "bad guy". But after his career was over and I grew up, I gained so much respect for him and his accomplishments. Even Richard acknowledged him as the best stock car driver.
