Title: The 1/2 Pint Story (at least as can I can remember)
Post by: HAWK22 on January 29, 2025, 10:26:10 AM
The owner of his car though it would be cool
to number it 1/2 PINT. (No other reason)

First time I saw this car was at the garage where it was built.
Down the street from Pinedale elementary school. When there
for the 3rd/4th grade. Walked to school. Lived on "Comet" street.
Can fine the school and Comet street on google earth. Amazingly
both have changed very little. But "Whitehead's Garage is no more.

First time at the track was on a Wednesday evening making hot laps.
I stood on the rub rail to get a good look inside the car. It was very clean
and very red, inside and out. One of the crew guys ask me not to lean against
the car. Said paint was not good and dry. I did think it was silly to run a car
on a dirt clay track when the paint wasn't dry, but he was nice about it.

They had a quickchange rearend  on the floor of their garage. But my neighbor,
who I think did some work on this car (and lived on Comet St) said it was "messed up".
Funny what you remember at such a young age.

As I remember the car was not fast and never ran well. Just looked good. Of course I
though it was a 32 Ford. Was surprised years later when a picture showed up
on the internet that it's a 33 Plymouth/Dodge body...

Was a very nice looking car. To bad this photo in not in color (red!!!)

Saw the drivers name spelled TYRE and TIRE.

This is the side I stood on to get a look inside.

Hawk 22, I've said it a bunch, but I love your replica builds and your great stories. I love old race cars and the stories that we all have. You did a great job on this one!
