I was told exhaust then not exhaust. Think exhaust is visible in trunk lid near bumper? Gotta be early Daytona!

Pretty sure its exhaust. That's the way I made my Junior Johnson build. I wouldn't have made it that way if I did not have definitive proof that it was exhaust coming through the taillights. I think it was to keep competitors from tailgating for fear of overheating.

OK, what are the 2 big holes in the trunk right next to the tailight tubes? This has me really confused. I watched a barn find video and it had Fireball's original 57 Ford. The gent doing the walk around said the exhausts were below the trunk by the rear bumper? Has me totally confused now! Did I( hear wrong on the exhaust? Tinitis really screws with me at times.

I watched that you tube video right now and the only holes I see on the rear of that car are the ones in the middle of the taillights. the rear fascia below the trunk and above the bumper look hole less to me. jmho.
You are right, not in video, look at Daytona Beach picture posted above your model build. Also the car next to his with the trunk lid open, got me confused.
The 1957 Ford had its fuel filler neck behind the license plate (I think), those holes are probably on is fuel filler and the other is vent. Just my guess.
I think those are the exhuast. Back then you could route them anyway you wanted.
Thanks, not as many rules as today. I also read there was a door to open and look at the tire? I heard another racer, maybe Darrell Waltrip had a door to dump excess ballast but I thought that was where Buckshot Jones got his name from. I still like Michael Waltrip's use of "rocket fuel" in 2007??? This sport is very rich with some unique stories.
