Started another one. The one would be representable of early 70's in Wisconsin somewhere...Pretty basic, high winding 289 for power, good set of tires and wheels and away we went racing!!(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4714/39015940405_59b7ec509a_z.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/22rGTMF)IMG_4792 (https://flic.kr/p/22rGTMF) by Rett Rundell (https://www.flickr.com/photos/153037413@N04/), on Flickr
Good story! That's what I like about racing....always a story somewhere! A few of them include me, some good, some not so much....lol. I drove three Mustangs back then, none a '67 tho. There was a '66, 70', and 73. The first two were pretty good. The '73, eh, drove it for someone else. It was a lot like pushing a rope!

This STANG is looking good already Rett...and it don't even have an engine or # on it! That profile shot is waaaay cool.
Looks good so far rett.
Looking good Rett, that will be a beauty when finished.
Bob
Well surprise, surprise! I have no hood for this one! Didn't notice when I started it. If someone has one, I'd gladly buy it. If not, I'll go back to the 60's again and make one!
Rett
Actually started that last night. Thanks anyway....
Rett
:) I made one out of a Coke can once. But they are really sharp, so you have to be very, very careful.

Looking Good!!!
Optical illusion. It's the stock chassis...Having some problems, but it's coming along...
Rett
After looking again at the pic, I think the diameter of the cage tubing is too large and throws the whole pic off. Car isn't coming out the way I wanted anyway. lol

Ya ever have one ya just don't like? This is mine for this year!! Not much worked right on this after a reasonably decent start....Oh well, on to the next one and try to do better...
It looks good to me Rett. We had some of these running in our area back in the day.
Bob
Man Rett...that looks good to me too. I like the color scheme too...This puppy is ready to rumble...
Thanks guys, I guess it's all in the eye of the beer holder, er beholder....
Rett
:) It might be, Rett. But the important thing is to please yourself with it. Stay happy, ole buddy.
Me......I'm likin' it.....looks quite sharp......interesting color scheme
I had a bunch that I played around with back in the day and ended up tossing them out, long before personal computers hit the scene....
Some I wish I still had.......
I never trash them, and I will post everything I build, good or bad...just wasn't happy the way this one turned out. I've done some good, and some bad, oh well. Hopefully the next one will be the best one.....

Rett....
In looking at the 3rd pic down of the completed build, I can see where Ford got the idea for the Torinos!
Had to do a double take on that pic as I thought for a second or two, that I was looking at a Torino....
either that, or my eyes are going bad.....lol
Man David...you found a great pic! Rett...what yr is that Stang? It looks like it might be a 69 Mach1 or a 70. Have you built a replica of this one yet?
Very nice Mustang !! I have a poor one started in my stash, now i know what to do with it ...
I like it Rett! It has that Wisconsin dirt track, nose high, stance to it!

It's a 70. Owned by my best friend Rick Tackman. It was a darned good car, had my 406, trans and rear end in it. We were seriously behind the eight ball money wise so weren't able to compete as well as we would have liked. Sort of had to run on 2nd hand tires too. But we had a good time. That would have been 1974.
Rett
No, I haven't built a replica of it. Plan on it soon tho. I've already started (today) another replica of a friends '57 Ford Hdtp. We'll see how that comes out and go from there....
Rett
That sounds cool Rett. I remember you talking about that engine you took out of the race car and put it in the street car...or do I have that backwards...CRS ya know :o ;D. That's a very good looking Mustang my friend. Those colors are almost dead on to my Graduating High school colors. Maroon/White/Gold. If you don't build it...I'd like your permission to do a replica of it.
:) You look good in that 67 Rett. I think David missed the duct tape on the windshield, though.

Ya, I took a 30 over
406 Ford out of my LM and put it in my '64 Galaxie street machine, fun car.

If your talking about the #67 it's a '70 powered by 406. Colors are pink, white, and brown. I used to tease my friend, the owner, and call it Pansy Pink! I never had a problem wearing pink and no one wanted to give me a hard time about it. LOL. I'd be honored if you wanted to build it, so go for it!
Rett
I just put that puppy on my BUILD list. What I need( if possible) is More info for the build. Type of cage(bar configuration). You know..... that sort of info that makes this your car(other than the paint scheme) You said there was pink in there....I don't see pink at all. I see Brown/White...Gold lettering,#s annnnd the 500mph tape around the windshield. The only pink I see in that pic is your shirt. Which is a mighty fine look'in shirt I might add...
I'll see if I can dig up a a couple of other pics for you. As far as the cage, I'll see what I can come up with.....
Rett
Gary, PM me your e-mail address and I will send you a couple of pics I've got.
Rett
email sent to ya Rett....

This is the best I can do. As far as the details, man, this was 44 years ago! But, 3 bars in both doors, rear uprights to the top of the frame hump. Gauges, mostly tach, oil and water. Fire extinguisher mounted on the hump to the right of the seat. Floor shifter. Bar went from cross bar behind driver to right front corner of the cage. I don't remember how the front hoop was. Of course double shocks on right front. That's as much as I can remember. Oh yea, exhaust was flex from the headers (tube) to the bus exhaust pipes down the side. Sounded great, especially going down the straights at the MIlwauke Mile. Hope all this helps.

HECK YEA....I see the pink now! Man...that looks cool Rett. I'm saving these puppies in a folder. All that info is perfect my friend. Man...this is making me want to build this puppy right now...
:) There must be a race car in that picture somewhere.
Aaahhhh....John2....
took the words right out of my mouth..... ;D ;D
Ok you two! LOL, that lady is my best friends wife, he owned the car. Had my motor, trans and rear in it. Unfortunately she is in bad shape right now with cancer. I'm hoping to make a trip to Gatlinburg to see her in the next couple of weeks......
Rett
Figured she was involved, with the team.. :)
Sorry to hear her health is not good....prayers :(

Pretty hard not to see the pink! We just combined our colors. My cars had been brown, white and orange. He was a big Marty Robbins fan ergo the pink....His son Rick Tackman Jr. runs a black and pink scheme on his Mid Am cars now.......keeping pink in the family, I guess.

Thanks man.
Well, thanks David. I'm sure there are a lot of other former, or present, racers that could post some pretty awesome pics too. Maybe we should have a section for that. Post a pic and a story to go with it maybe......I can come up with more, from the junk I started with to the end of my racing.

Another nice one Rett!!! Love the look on this one!!
Nice "stang" !!
