Well folks...Slim Louis inspired me to get to some of the road course cars that I've had on the back burner for a few yrs. I decided to build the Jagermeister Zakspeed Ford Capri using the Tamiya Mampe Capri for the build. It is fairly simple as far as parts count goes but...well engineered and up to the Tamiya molding standards go.
The kit roll cage is only half there. Soo..I want to put as much bar work in the green house as possible. Finding interior Pictures of the cage area was a pretty good challenge. I finally found some on line a few days ago. I had alredy started building the front part of the missing cage when I discoverd the rest of the story. Now...I'm going to add the Door bars along with another support bar from the right front upright to the bar just under the dash. Here are a few pics of the work I've got done to this point.

Looking good!!
Thanks ED...
Here's an update on the bar work...It is complete and as far as I'm going with it. I added the door bars and the bar that goes from the left upright bar to the center of the dash bar. I made this cage so it will lift out for painting. I want to do the cage a little different color than the interior and it makes adding things easier when the cage isn't in the way. Here are a few pics. Thanks for stopping in.

Here's some progress info. The wind vanes(for lack of a better tech info) on the front fenders are made along with the left front vent on the hood. All the holes that were engineered into this kit for the battery thing are all Plugged. The bottom seat belt slots are also cut in and the holes in the back of the seat are plugged. The knob for the turbo was fabbed from plastic rod and is mocked up in the pics. It's ready for priming and that should happen tonight...hopefully...

Excellent work Gary.
I can tell a lot of work has been put into this build already. The cage work is very nice.
I'll keep watching the progress on this build.
Bob
coming right along there.....looking good......!
Gary, you´re going to build a very cool car! The bright orange of the Jägermeister racecars is very nice.
Btw. here in Germany the Ford Capri was called the "german Ford Mustang" because of the short trunk and the loooong hood :D :D
Your detailwork on this car is great! Looking forward to see the finished model!
Thank you for the lookin and compliments folks.
Michael...I'm going to do the Liqui Molly Capri as a full detail build here in the future. I'll use the Monogram IMSA Mustang as the base for the build. Should be a challenging build.
Well...got some more work done on the Wurth Capri..The wheels are painted and tires mounted ready to add to the chassis. The chassis is painted and 99% of the detail painting is complete. Just have to touch up a little here and there. Tomorrow the cage ans all the interior goodies will go in. The Dash Gauge bezels have been painted but the Gauge decals haven't been added yet. The body is painted but needs rub out. That will happen real soon...this puppy is really getting close to track time... Here are a few pics to see what's been done...

WOW!!
Lookin' sharp!!
The wheels alone are worth the price of admission Gary! They really pop! That black should be stunning against those rims. This thing is really going to be sharp!
Thanks for stopping in and commenting Ed and David....it's appreciated.
Here is an update on the Dash. It's in Mockup and will be installed real soon. Have to build the racing harness and then the whole interior will be finished..

Lordy! Looks like the cockpit of a 747! Pretty amazing work Gary!
Thanks David....it does look like a cockpit of a plane. Lots of gauges to look at...
That's a "wild" cockpit!!
When does the driver have time to look at all those gauges??
This is really coming along, Gary!!
Thanks for the compliments Ed and Steven. I'm building the racing harness today and this chassis should be up on it's feet real soon. Then...it's a little rub on the hood of the body and then shoot clear...then all those decals will go on.
Here's the finished chassis. The hood on the body needs rubbed out a little and then I'll shoot it with clear and add the Decals....which should be this week...maybe...hopefully... OK..not sure?? LOL

Really coming along nicely Gary. I really dig the concept of building what you can and leaving the unseen to the imagination. Some kits and builds are just like that and this is a perfect example. It'a going to be a killer build and yet, "under the hood?". . . who the heck cares!!!
Man oh Man!!!

Looking Fantastic!!
Hey Ed...Thanks for the compliment...

Thanks for the lookin David. This kit is a curb side from the start...meaning no engine or engine bay detail. That's basically what this Tamiya kit is. I had in mind to do a complete full detail build on this one but changed my mind when the idea of using the Monogram ISMA Mustang kit as a donor was shown to me. I'll do that when I build the Jagermeister Capri.
Looks good....love that instrument panel!
Thanks Bob...starting the decals today.
I loved these cars when they raced.
Great job on this one.
I was thinking maybe one could take the turbo four Zakspeed engine from one of the Revellogram IMSA Mustang GTP kits and do some cool kitbashing if you wanted to go crazy but I like the way Gary is doing his.
Thanks for stopping in and commenting Steven.
Well...the Decal sheet from Studio27(made by Cartograph) for the front Valance on the "WURTH" Black car didn't fit. Found this out after I had cut it and tried to apply it to the car. Whom ever did the design work on it was smoking something other than cigarettes. It was way off. Sooo...I thought about it and switched to the D&W Black Capri. I wanted to build that one also. It just came sooner than later. The Graphics on that car are really cool. I've got it 3/4 decaled as I type. It's taken 2 days to do get to this point. I should have it complete here in a few days. Then I will post pics...
Thanks Rod...I am going to do a FULL DETAIL build using the Monogram Mustang Motor Sports car kit and the Zakspeed body..... It will be the Jagermeister car. Of course that's down the build list though.
This Capri is finished. I had to go with a different race team as the Decals for the Wurth Black car was wrong. Sooo...I went with the D&W Black car. It has a very cool paint scheme. The Decals took a little time but all in all...they were good. Here's a few pics of the finished D&W Zakspeed Ford Capri...thanks for looking in folks...

One sharp looking build!!!
Came out great!!
Wow, that looks familiar, i hink i saw it once on the famous Nürburgring ;D ;D
Very nice build of a cool racecar. Very well done !!
Great job, Gary !
Excellent job as always, Gary. Your work is always topnotch.
Thank you folks for stopping in and leaving compliments.
A couple of days late, but that is one beautiful racer. I have always enjoyed the color combinations of this series and you have captured it very well. Two thumbs up on this build.
Excellent build Gary. Very nice detail work, paint and decals.
Bob
Thanks Rick and Bob....I agree...the color schemes on this series of cars was pretty cool. Plus...they were very fast..
