When Rex finally parked his 63 Chevy during the 1963 Grand National season, he got a Bill Stroppe prepared 63 Mercury Marauder. He drove it in the Stroppe livery for one race at the Firecracker 400 before painting it his usual gold and white. He never liked the Mercury's because he said he could not set them up to handle as well as his Chevys. for 1964 he ended up in a Bud Moore Mercury toward the end of the 64-season coming close to winning the Dixie 400 in Atlanta. In 1965 he got out of the Grand National circuit and campaigned a 55 Chevy in the Sportsman ranks of Nascar, dominating there with 20 plus wins. After 1965 he retired from racing and became a long-haul truck driver. On the underside shot don't look at the transmission. I was too lazy to change it from an automatic to a manual transmission. I should have painted it black so it would not have stood out so much.

Looks great to me Mark, automatic and all. I'm hoping the hurricane Beryl isn't causing you much trouble.

Great-looking build. Authentic as heck. I think I mentioned before that I don't like looking at the under-carriage of cars. And great side notes and information on the background of Rex and his career. Nice work.

Thanks, Steve and Donato. I finally got my power back last night after 6 days without it and no air conditioning except when I went some where to eat or driving my baby truck to recharge my phone and the 12-volt rechargeable fans we have been using all week. Thank goodness for Georgia power company. If they had not come to help, we would still be without power.

Glad you got your power back Mark. We had a tornado spring of 2023. Lost power for three long, hot days, wasn't fun. We're going to get a Generac for the new place.

Glad you're getting yourself back together. Been through a few of those extended power-outages. No fun.

Thanks Steve and Donato. It's hard to do something fun like modeling when you've got bigger issues to think about and also you try to stay out of the house as much as you can with no power.
