Another "Mystery" 63 Chevy

Not my favorite car that LeeRoy drove. Liked the colors but not
the numbers style. Was told this car used a borrowed and rare
Chevy "mystery" motor for the 1963 Daytona 500...

allI could find to work from (name spelled wrong !!!)

Very nice looking build, really like the color separation. Wondering what the buttons along the rocker panel represent? I've never noticed them on a NASCAR build before.
When I win the Powerball I will switch to the real ones.

I have one of the 1/64 scale die casts of this car, but I have never seen one done in 1/25 scale before. Yours looks amazing. I heard once that one of the 63 Chevys in the race actually had a 409 punched out to 427 cubic inches but it did not run as well as the porcupine head cars. I know Rex White, Junior Johnson, G.C. Spencer and Johnny Rutherford had the mystery engine cars for sure but none of them could last for 500 miles.

Those are just plastic pens I used to hold the body to the frame. Should have sanded them down a little.
But just adds more mystery to the 63 Chevy.

Kind of a common way I attach body to frame when things start to fit tight.

Ok then. Mystery solved. This was the one with the punched 409. The trouble with the porcupine heads is the thing that made them more powerful also made them a time bomb that could not make it 500 miles without some kind of failure. Apparently in 1965 Chevy figured out the problem with the 396 which was later punched to 427.
