Built this one for a local racer who runs in our vintage class. He took a big ol' galaxie and cut almost a foot out of the center. I did a model to match it and it turned out pretty good. Everyone was happy with the finished product anyway.

It's cool, but reminds me of a Fairlane on Steroids.

...Never seen that done on anything 1:1......looks great!  In fact I like the way it looks on a shorter wheelbase than I do on the 119" w/b

Yes,
taking that section out of the middle made a world of difference in the looks. It's still a big car but doesn't look it from a distance.

Wild build!!  Looks great!!

Have a few interesting in the vintage class that run a couple of local tracks near where I live. Including a sharp Chevy II with a big block under the hood. last race they raced, it was the first time I saw that Chevy II get beat. But he started further back in the field for that race and another car with what sounded like it had a big block under the hood as well.

That's pretty slick. You did an excellent job shortening this one!

Pretty slick and it begs the question, "Why?" I know in the Midwest where they run a lot of vintage stuff the older bodies are usually on newer chassis and suspensions so yeh, the bodies do sometimes get whacked up pretty bad.
Quite a few of these vintage stocks are using the old I.M.C.A type modified chassis/cage etc.  The old modified chassis are considered outdated by todays standards and can be had relatively cheap.  Even if a 10-15 year old chassis has had its updates, it's still not as desirable as something newer.  Pretty much all of the old modified chassis come in at a 108" wheel base and that Galaxie rode on a 119" wheel base ..... so there's were "cut almost a foot out of the center" comes from.
