When the Polar Lights Snap 65 Dodge Kits first came out I built two of them, cut out the back seat, built a cage and just snapped it together. The first, this one, I didn't even paint just made some nice Nichels decals and put them on. Over time the white got dirty and the decals bled from washing. I did not clear coat them. So a do-over was required! Dis assembled, Added bars to the cage, a fuel cell, replaced the snap kit wedge with a hemi, and got some cool USAC Billy Foster decals from Plastic Performance. The #20 Joe Leonard car will be built from a Johan 64 Dodge, as the real car was. Here's how it is coming, so far:

I built one of these kits box stock, but I like yours better, Slim!

Looking good so far, Slim.
Always like the '65 Dodge and Plymouth cars.
Those were great years in USAC stock car racing.

This should look great when finished. That Foster car looks really cool.

I got one those kits when they first came out. Was gonna build it as a David Pearson car I remembered seeing race when I was a kid. I still have the kit. This is gonna be cool! Looking forward to see more!

Motor is finished, used a Lindberg Petty Hemi, fits perfect. Painted, but it is hard to tell with these indoor shots. Decaling as we speak. The Plastic Performance were a little tender so I shot some krylon acrylic clear and solved that issue. Hoping for good weather to take outdoor shots today or tomorrow.
