I'm rebuilding a seventies modified for a friend of a friend.

This car raced at Big Diamond raceway in Pa. in the early seventies.
The owner of the model built the model when it was racing. It' was in an old box and started failing apart. It was built with a Tobias kit with a Mustang body. The hood was made from an old pit pass. Some of the internal parts were made of paper also.

The only picture I have of the car.

I decided to go with a new body. This body from a DTR Tobias kit that I narrowed and modified.

Looking good, interesting that it ran a Ford body, and a Chevy engine. Lucky for you the original build wasn't horrible. It will no doubt delight the new owner.
How do you prime the aluminum parts, so they don't shed paint?

Most of the time I use Krylon grey primer and never had a problem with the paint peeling.
I used a Lacquer primer on this build. I painted it Hugger Orange from model Masters. It's a two part paint and requires a clear coat.
I do need to ruff up the aluminum to get the CA glue to stick properly.

Interesting.  I am certain it will be another great one, Bob.

I really like what you have done so far, Bob. I can tell this will be another great looking model when it's finished. Everything about it just looks right!

Thanks for the comments, decals should arrive mid week and maybe I can get this one finished.

It's a STANG... Can't go wrong with that. This sure looks good Bob. What clear did you use on this? It sure is shinny....
