finished this one up tonight... didn't do a WiP because i wasn't doing too much extra to it.  the pics i found of the real car looked a bit off-white so i used Tamiya racing white for the paint. extras i made were - header extensions, nerf bars/spuds, wing supports, modified the rear wing supports for the front wing, fabbed an external oil tank on the left side out of sheet and strip, bars to mount the rear shocks.  extras i bought were - seat support that Jaye whipped up for me, shocks from Jaye (i hate the molded in blobs of plastic that RM tried to pass off as shocks), bead locks from Dwight on Shapeways, resin seat and hood from Mike's. decals are from Polecat.  the decals were decent, went down well, first time using them.  have to comment about quality control... one of the "STP" contingency decals was just a blue outline, no fill.  woulda thought that woulda been caught, but oh well... i ended up using contingencies from my stash anyway.  has anyone ever had Polecat make custom decals for them? i tried, sent pics, never heard back.  helluva way to run a business, even if it is a side hustle.

a few notes/stats about this car and driver in 1989:

ran 47 of 91 World of Outlaws races, finished 9th in points :o  had 26 wins, 40 top 5s, and 42 top 10s; one of those wins was his 5th and final Knoxville Nationals.

ran 28 of 50 United Sprint Association races (this was a startup series that tried to compete with the WoO, much like High Limit today, but they didn't last past a few races in 1988 and then the 1989 season), finished 5th in points, had 15 wins, 24 top 5s, and 26 top 10s

ran 4 NCRA races and won 3 of them.

all in all, a pretty decent season.

and a sidebar... i was at the final race that Wolfgang ever ran. 1997 All Star Circuit of Champions at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL.  he was running selected races in the Motter #71m and had a career-ending injury in a wreck.  he survived, and it was a pretty sad night for most in the stands.

up next... Wolfgang's 1988 #40 Duzmor ride.  gonna be even less custom stuff on that one, so watch for the finished product posting here in a few weeks. ;)

Excellent work, love the off white. I bet the 1:1 was a looker!

Nice job on one of the great sprintcar drivers of our time.
