:) I have recently developed an interest in these cars as raced by Johnny Benson and others in Michigan.

Wondering how feasible it would be to take the MPC Pontiac Super Stocker chassis, and scratch out flat sides, hood, and trunk panel.

But how in the world would you come up with a roof and glass that looks practically like a fighter jet canopy ?

Maybe a picture would help folks understand what you're talking about

I know what you're talking about and I feel like I've seen one, maybe on a slotcar website. I'll keep looking and let you know if I figure it out.

:) Well, thanks for the replies.

We are having trouble posting pictures, but I think Anne is about ready to try again.  We are far busier than old retired people are supposed to be.

And I have all of the GTO chassis built, plus the cockpit cover, tail cover,  and one side built for my " outlaw."  Will try to fashion the GTO roof ( which I have cut off )into one with minimal curves.  Probably wind up with a square roof.

Plus, about 3 weeks ago I decided that I would work on it until Labor Day, which is 3 days away, and then stop and do an Easy Build pickup.

We will see.

( These  outlaw late models have wrap around front and rear glass. )

If you could make a buck out of wood or possibly resin and have someone vaccuform the piece out of clear sheet, then paint the body area and leave the glass. Sounds like a lot of work, but it's not that bad. You could get together with others wanting some and make several.

:) Thank you, jh, but I am too old and tired to make that kind of commitment.  And not that skilled either.

....I did a search...I presume your referring to the asphalt outlaw late models...

I have a couple of plausible ideas:
I went into my kitchen to see what clear, thin containers could be used for the glass if I were to build one of these.  With a pair of scissors and a paper template, I could make all the glass with either the bottle of Dawn dish washing soap or bottle of Windex on the counter.....both have horizontal curves conducive to making a windshield or curved back glass...make a template and glue into place the glass, using a "stitching method". Instead of one continuous bead of glue, glue small beads or "stitches" between the glass and body, allowing them to dry before continuing to conform the glass to the body.  A little bit of patience should reward you with the results you are after.

Plastruct has a skylight that I think could be made into the glass that you are after, also.

The thinnest available is.080"(2.0mm), or about the thickness of kit glass...it would not be as easily workable as the clear, plastic bottles nor as readily available.

:) Thank you Brian.  I will check into that, but I am putting it away now for a while.
I will be doing an EZ build pickup.

I plan to lower it, and paint it baby blue, or maybe mint green.

:) I seem to have forgotten how to send a PM, so Speedracer, your pictures were mailed today.

I am sure to some, this has become like a soap opera.  Be sure to tune in  tomorrow for  the latest developments.   ::)
