This is a model of my 2nd sportsman car from 1966. Started many years ago by my good friend Rick Tackman. I recently visited him in Tennessee and he gave it to me to finish. I didn't own it, just drove. The owner painted the letters and numbers with a house paint brush as you can see. Won my first heat race in it. And that was the only race I won that year. The roll cage came out of my car from the year before, pretty crude, but I'm still here!! It had a 312 with a mild street cam, and that was about it.....Thanks to Rick all I had to do was a couple of details and assemble it.....Those were the good old days....

Now that's Cool Rett. To have your first Racecar and you and a good friend built it together... is way to cool.... I like the paint scheme on this car. Painting the numbers with a 2" brush sure brings back some early memories....

Pretty cool race car Rett! I know it brings back some memories having won your fist checkers in this car! How is Rick anyway? He doing okay?
I appreciate people that actually build and post models.

Rick is doing okay. His wife, Marge lost her battle with cancer the week before Easter. They had just built a beautiful log cabin home in Cosby, Tn. (near Gatlinburg). He's got his hobby room all set up, even did a little lettering job for me. (I'll be posting that soon). He can't get internet where he's at. At least not what  he can afford. I'll tell him you asked.....thanks...I've known Rick and Marge for 48 years so, it really hit me hard too...

I will, I've got my car from 1970 almost done. Had to have my buddy Rick do the numbers for me. Just now getting down to the final steps on this one!!
