Rusty McCadden was one of my friends when I was 6 years old, and his big brother stopped by one day on his way to the 1957 Southern 500. This was the brand-new car he had recently purchased to get himself there. I was so impressed by the beauty of that car I knew someday I had to make a model of it. I have never forgotten that car.

Beautiful Fairlane. IMHO the Ford Fairlane was much prettier than the Chevrolet BelAir. I loved their color palette, so many colors and combinations.
When I win the Powerball I will switch to the real ones.

One of my favorite vehicles ever produced. Beautiful model Mark.

Thanks guys. I can still remember that day 67 years ago in Hampton Virginia. We were playing like 6-year-old kids from the fifty's played. Basically, rough housing and throwing dirt clods at each other till somebody got one in the head and started crying. Suddenly this young guy who looked like Bobby Darren drives up in this car and Rusty runs up to him and jumps on him. He had gotten out of the car this model depicts. Of course, we were all over it looking inside it, begging for a ride in it and stuff like that. His brother was really nice about it and said he had to leave pretty soon because he was on his way to the Southern 500 in Darlington. Of course, none of us kids knew what he was talking about but soon learned about it from our parents. That race was a really big deal to adults in the southern east coast back then. It had the same stature as the World Series. That day was the start of my lifelong love of the sport of Stock Car racing. Kinda sad that Brian France messed it up with the playoff system he came up with to try to compete with the other major sports. I'm hoping someday someone at the top of Nascar will come to their senses and change it back to a pure points system to decide the champion. That way all the races will be equal in importance. Not just the chase races. But I don't think that will ever happen.
