:)  This is the AMT '40 Ford  Early Modified that I started before I met Anne and we got married.

So I finished it for her, with her colors, number, and sponsors.  She loves cats, her late husband was an auto mechanic by trade, and we used the driver as Mia Riggs, the name of her female outside cat , here at Riggs Manor.

I built it box stock, except for shortening the trunk, enlarging the windows,  and using a '40 hood that I found at the Memphis show.  I went stock with it, since I was in the middle of all the moving.  It was a good simple, easy project for when I had really little time to devote to it.  It is all hand lettered.

Hope you like it.

:)  Ok.   We finally have one on here,  but,  it is obviously not as neat as what we would like, and we are not really sure how we got it here.

So, if anyone knows how we can clean them up, let's hear it, and we will post some more models.  Thanks for bearing with us.  John

John, looks like a nice clean build.  I'm glad you were able to get it posted.

Looks good, John. It does look better with the trunk shortened.

One mighty fine looking modified.  Your hand lettering is amazing.
When I win the Powerball I will switch to the real ones.

Great looking 40 modified, is the hood from a 40 Willys?

:)  Well, now, Al.  That is a great question.  I have no idea, and never even thought about it.

I found the hood lying in a box of junk parts at the show in Memphis, and assumed it to be off a Ford.  I paid a dollar for it.  I  have never built a Willys model, or maybe never have even seen a Willys car in real life.

There were no markings on it, and it was just with the air cleaner hole in the top of it.  I filled in the front part of that with plastic, as the square part at the front did not match my cleaner.  I asked Anne if she wanted the curved fender parts shaved off, or to use it as it was, and she said she liked the curve, so we left it.

Perhaps someone who has built a Willys, or has a kit can tell.  I just took it to be off a Ford.  Really does not matter to us in  any way.  I am glad you like the car, and thanks for posting about it.

Very nice build John, it's nice seeing you building again.
Mastering these photo programs is sometimes more difficult than building models.

:)  Thanks, Bob. That is so true.   Actually, I have been building a little at a time all along.  Just so much real life going on right now.  All most caught up with everything now.
