David Bogard

Jim Havill was quite a driver back in the day and my Dad and I watched him many times up at Davenport Speedway. Hailing from North Liberty, Iowa, he was the All-Iowa points Champion in 1969 in the Sportsman Class. Other All-Iowa points champs in this Division include names like Gary Tigges, Terry Ryan, Blackie Lyons, John Siminec, Jeff Aikey, et al. On the All-Time ALL-Iowa points listing between 1967-1990, Havill sits right between Russ Derr and Willy Kraft- pretty good company indeed!

Special thanks to Greg Holland for his  dedicated decal efforts.
I appreciate people that actually build and post models.

Very sharp David!  Great job with the wheelbase.  Didn't see too many cars with rear windows.

Very clean work David!  You have developed a style I call the Bogard Technique that enables you to pull off some very convincing tribute builds.  You have the eye for it!   Clean, neat and has the look of the 1:1 photo, I'd like to see Japan try and build a better one-----NOT!!!!!!!   Nice job, now I gotta dig out a 57 to line up with ya!

That baby is dead-on for sure! Another gem David!

Simple paint/lettering on the original, but sometimes that's just enough.
You have captured the real thing. Great work on this tribute, David.
Some great racing out there in Iowa in those days.
