I posted this replica build previously on Fred's forum. It's one of my favorite race cars from the past and one of my favorite builds.

This is the  Bud Grimm, Ford powered, number 88 driven in 1965 by Ray Tilley.
The car raced in central Pa. and Hagerstown, Md. speedways. They won 47 features events and three track championships. This was the winningest car in the nation in 1965.

Three tracks in central Pa. Williams grove, Selinsgrove, and Susquhanna speedways changed the rules for 1965 to allow only one four barrel carburetor, no Fuel injection. This was to make the teams more even, hoping for more different winners. The rule was changed back to allow fuel injection at the end of 1965.

THE RED NUMBERS ON THE ORIGINAL CAR WERE CHANGED TO WHITE AFTER ONE OR TWO WEEKS IN THE SEASON.

David,

There's a number of reasons this is my favorite build. I was a big Ford fan in the sixties. Ray Tilley was probably the best and cleanest driver in Pa. from 1965 thru 1969. He got hurt at Langhorne at the end of the 69 season. This basically ended his driving career. He did try to make a comeback but realized he lost something and retired.

I believe the model is one of my best in having everything in proportion. I had a great side shot photo to work with that helped get the proportions correct. The quality of the workmanship on this one is my best. The details are probably my best.

I'm not bragging about this build, there are many other model builders on this forum with a lot more skill than I have.

A great replica with attention to fine detail!  Reminds of the Knoxville super-modified days.

Great build, not easy to do this and get it right.   This one sure came out right.

Wow, another great Ford powered build. I love these cars built right when they decided they didn't have to cut up an old classic car to make a race car. These were cutting edge stuff for their day.

Guess I missed commenting on this one, but it's another good one.  Love those pipes out the back..  What a great sound they must have made.
