Great start James, I'll keep an eye on this one and maybe I can learn something new.

Thanks guys! Here are a few things I learned today.
Lengthening the dash really helped with the fit at the A pillars.

Making that front hoop I just followed the body and made it so the hood rests on the front just right.
I lowered the front by removing the molded in spring adjuster and drilling it through.

Then I glue the spring in place and mount the rest of the suspension parts. Then I like to put a small saw cut behind the spindle and straighten things up at this point.

One thing I hate is how brittle these old Monogram kits can be. It takes patience not to break things while adjusting and heat really effects these kits. (You can see this in the firewall! I did not have to remove much material at all to get the body sides to fit well.

Thanks again for the chance to share...

This is really looking good James. Your fab work is top notch...

So our local Model Car Club is doing another group build, theme this time it's anything red, white and blue.
So that is what I'll be doing with this, what could be more American than a Short Track Chevy painted RWB?
Thankfully I have until Christmas to finish it!

What you have done so far looks real good. I'm sure the rest will fall in place as you go....Looking forward to it!

Looks great so far!

:)  "  So far  "  of course, being the key words there, with special meaning for many of us.  For you newer folks, that is an old joke between those of us who have been around here, and formerly at Fred's for so many years.

So I have about 2 months to finish this up for the Sharon Pa show, wish me luck! Still making bits and pieces. And I tried something new to get a more realistic seat. Can you tell what I did?

:)  No, I can't.  But then I am too old for all this extra stuff anyway.  Mostly, I just look at the pictures now.
I still have plans to piddle a lot, but probably that will be most of it.

Carry on J2.  This is another nice one.

Well it's starting to resemble a race car...
It's hard to tell but I chopped the roof slightly at the "A" pillars to help with that go fast look.

Ya know James2, if you were to paint that thing orange and black, it would look a whole lot like Terry Bivins Monte from 72.   It almost looks like that is the car you were going for.
