Here's the one I'm doing, my car from 1970.IMG_4654 by Rett Rundell, on Flickr
And here's what I started with. Busted window posts, pretty brittle from age, etc.

I did send this one to my buddy Rick Tackman to do the numbers. Used dry transfer lettering for the rest. This was a very good
car for me, actually won the first race it ran. Handled like a dream!

Wonderful job on this replica of a special race car Rett! I know you had some good memories while working on it!! It looks great and I wish I could somehow roll back the clock and watch you wheel this baby around the track!!

Tks man! I wish I could roll it back too. Good days, wouldn't trade them, and the friends I made then, for anything.

Great replica build Rett and the fact that you drove this car makes it very special.

Man that is a great looking Sportsman. I have a few 62 bodies to get to, also. I want to do Tim Lipski's #75!

Where did you get the 62 Ford? I have a 62 promo but I don't have the heart to cut it up as its the only one I have.

I always enjoyed racing with Tim and remember that blue #75 very well. If you ever come up with an extra '62 body, let me know. I have another one I like to build someday.....I can find convertibles all day on e-bay, but not the 2drs. Think I'm going to try and adapt a '64 Fairlane roof to one and see how that looks.

Authentic replica when race cars "looked" like cars!

I found it on e-bay. Paid about $30 for it, plus postage. It had one missing front window post, the right one was bend pretty bad. The plastic was sort of brittle from age or whatever. A little gentle massaging, and a lot of patience (which I normally don't have). My friend, Rick Tackman, informed me that I could use a '64 Fairlane roof with just a little reshaping, so I'll be looking for a convertible I guess. Someone makes it in resin but it's like $50 and I'm not wanting to cut that type of thing up.

I took my first driving test in my mom's '62 Ford country squire wagon. I'll never forget the look on the instructors face when he told me to turn the car around on a dead end street with no turn around. I whipped it to the right curb, cranked the wheel, and whipped it around in a circle. When he caught his breath, he said that was great, but I wanted a three point turn. That old woody had the shortest turning radius I've ever seen on a big old barge like that. It had a 390 cu. in. Engine, and for a car that big it would crank right along.

Have you ever considered using the roof from the '61 Galaxie?  Not sure how close that one is but it should be easier to fit than a Fairlane.
When I win the Powerball I will switch to the real ones.

May try that yet. I've got a Fairlane roof right now. If I can come up with a '62 convert I'll be trying it. If it don't look right I'll try a '61. It'll be a while anyway.

Very nice racer of my favorite stockcar era!!
