Grandpa Bogard at one time had a '59 Chevy Biscayne that he called his "fishin' car". And yes, we certainly did a lot of that in the old batwing Chevy. I wanted to build that car and most of it is just box stock and a real breeze. However, turning the Mongram Impala body into a Biscayne has taken me more fabrication work and time (and filling and sanding and filling and sanding) than I imagined it would. I added the small side spears to the front fenders and have paint on it since these shots but here's where I was a little while ago.

And here's Grandpa and me doing some "man's work" bringing home supper!

I appreciate people that actually build and post models.

That ol' Biscuit would have been a real sleeper with that big 348 in it. It would have been pretty hot with the old powerglide, but if it happened to have a three speed stick in it that would have really made her a sleeper. There were a few Duntov designed 1959 Chevies that had this setup. In fact his personal stripped down "Biscuit" had a proto type 409 in it, with tripower.
By the way one of the resin casters sells a '59 Biscayne body, in case you decide to do another one some time.

Beautiful work and a great tribute to your "Pop".  Both my grandfathers passed before I was three years old and I have no stories such as this to remember.
When I win the Powerball I will switch to the real ones.

Awesome Biscayne, great story. Makes me want to build the '36 Ford pickup my grandfather taught me how to drive in. Started sitting on his lap. I was driving tractors for him before I was 10 yrs old! Grandpa liked to drink a bunch too. Maybe that's where I inherited my former problem! Still loved that old guy. Just saw some old pics of him on FB that his great granddaughter posted. Brought back a lot memories...

O.K. Is that the original color of Gramp's biscuit, or did you upgrade it to your favorite color combo.?

Man, that is very well done, David!!!  I've seen others attempt the conversion to Biscayne with mediocre results...yours is fantastic!!!  Grandpa Bogard would have been proud!!!  I love the colors you picked and it just all flows!!!  I know that it's not 100% accurate but for my tired old eyes it looks gorgeous.  Very cool tribute to your dad as well!!!  Thanks for sharing the model, the tribute and those cool pics of grandpa and little David!!!  Made me think about how I miss my dad!!!😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤗🏁

Really nice David!  It doesn't have to be perfect or exact as long as you had fun building & remembering the "good ol' days".
