David Bogard

I have been wanting to try to build this car for a long time but I haven't been in the mood to tackle this monster until now. There are not very many of these builds and there's a reason for that. The late great Dave Kneisel built some weird (and wonderful) race cars and they are not easy to replicate. This particular one is partly a Tobias chassis and partly a bunch of one-off things that he did. I will try to document the carnage as I go but understand that some things might have to be done a couple of times in order to get it right. Progress might be slow at times.

I started by just assembling the basics of a Tobias chassis. After it was good and solid, I began to rework the rear section and I still have a ways to go on that part.

Stay tuned, this could get ugly!
I appreciate people that actually build and post models.

Great work as always David, this is going to be an awsome replica.
Thanks also for posting how your building this one.

Another awesome one in the making. You're getting my inspiration for building a modified going.

This is gonna be cool, David!!!  The only thing it needs different is a Kelvinator engine under the hood, lol...sorry, just jerkin' your chain a little bit.😂🏁

Looking awesomer and awesomer. I'm starting to wonder how the driver could see to race, with that hood scoop. Seems like he should have rigged up a periscope on the roof, so he could get a full field of vision to the front. But I guess if he's sitting in the middle in the back then he would just miss what was directly in front of the car. Beats me, I have never driven a race car.

Man David...you're doing some awesome work here.

Oh my gosh. Those 1/4 window sail panels are so cool, its ridiculous. How in the heck did you do those, and get them to match up, and fit perfectly. If I could do a bow down emoji, I would. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent work.

Man David...this is really looking GREAT!

No need Mark. Those came with the body but they did not fit worth a darn so a lot of fiddling went into them. A little heat and stretch here; a little sand trimming there; test fit; repeat steps ten times. I think mine might have gotten bit by some ambient heat at some point because they were just warped and unruly.  Finally getting them in there really helped with the whole "Pacer X" look though!

So you used a pacer x kit for the body. I did not know such a kit was available. You still did a masterful job of getting them to fit so beautifully.

Man that thing is so cool, and sits just right. Love the way the headers are inside the doors and then come out right in front of the rear tire. And speaking of tires and wheels, they are very awesome.

Man David that thing is dead on, all the proportions look just right.
I can't wait to see the decals for this one. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
